Job Description

Description

Leidos currently has an opening for a Senior Network Engineer to support the Advanced Battle Management System’s (ABMS) Digital Infrastructure (DI) Network Manager program. In this mission we support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) to field and operate the ABMS Digital Infrastructure. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for supporting training, including hands-on training as well as training requirements for the ABMS DI Network capability.

ABMS is a top modernization priority for the DAF and will be the backbone of a network-centric approach to battle management in partnership with all the services across the Department of Defense. That broader effort is known as Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2). As envisioned, JADC2 will allow U.S. forces from all services — as well as allies and partners — to sense, make sense and act upon a vast array of data and information faster than adversaries can detect and respond to.

This position will be worked from our Orlando, FL office with a hybrid schedule.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide both lecture-based and hands-on technical training in a classroom setting to students on applicable ABMS DI-Network system topics.
  • Deploy network system upgrades at various field sites, both CONUS and OCONUS as required.
  • Manage SD-WAN architecture to include operational and security related updates and changes.
  • Manage the Secure Vector Routing tables to include requirements gathering for traffic prioritization and routing.
  • Mentor team personnel on architecture and configuration nuances.
  • Provide management updates on the Digital Infrastructure Network.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess a minimum of a Top Secret clearance
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Active or prior experience as a trainer for system networks and/or related technical topics
  • Proficient knowledge of network engineering, network architecture, and network automation
  • Experience with configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Python script development
    • Elasticsearch / Logstash / Kibana
    • Linux systems administration
    • Windows systems administration
  • Demonstrated ability to influence development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results; and to recommend and develop new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of program strategy and operations.
  • Experience with managing technical staff on IPTs and/or cross functional teams to enable significant positive impact on project results/outputs.
  • Strong written and verbal communications, team building and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working on ABMS or JADC2 initiatives, or other US Air Force Customer programs
  • SD-WAN knowledge and experience
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Software Engineering experience, e.g., with creation, authoring, execution and documentation of test cases/result sets for software products in an agile cadence
  • Experience working/testing within Commercial Cloud Platforms (ex: AWS) and DevOps tools

At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.”

If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You’ll fit right in.
